You can find her working at the following communities.
Geriatric massage nurtures the human spirit and promotes person-centered care, which builds stronger bonds between caregivers and residents. It is the kind of innovative program families look for when choosing care for their loved ones.
Whether they seek independent living options, assisted-living, and/or skilled nursing, families feel reassured that their loved ones have access to a safe, natural, and cost-effective therapy that has multiple benefits: improved circulation, increased flexibility, and reductions in anxiety, depression, and loneliness. When your residents and patients begin to realize the positive effects of massage—feeling more content, at ease and having less pain—the benefits extend to the caregivers who serve them.
Jodi is comfortable working with elders who live in facility care, and is familiar with the challenges they face. Loss, grief, feelings of helplessness and isolation, boredom and simply being deprived of touch are common. Jodi’s awareness of and compassion for these sensitive issues deepens the therapeutic relationship with your residents.
Adding Geriatric Massage to your Wellness Program
Most leading independent/assisted living residences offer wellness programs to their residents. These programs often include nutrition, exercise and personal growth workshops. Geriatric massage is another wellness option that can make a huge difference in the well-being and quality of life of your seniors.
Jodi understands that activity directors and staff are busy. She assists with marketing by distributing articles about massage and wellness for newsletters. She also assists with logistics. When appropriate, Jodi personally calls her clients the day before to remind them about their scheduled massage.
Payment Structure Examples
Jodi works with several elder facilities in the region. Each facility is unique, so each arrangement is unique. She is flexible in terms of schedule and fee structures. Following are a few examples:
Example 1
One facility pays Jodi an agreed upon hourly rate for a set number of hours per month. This provides residents (and staff!) a massage as a value-added amenity.
Example 2
One facility subsides Jodi’s rate and charges their residents (and/or staff) a small fee so the cost is shared. This is the most popular option because it is more affordable for the community's budget.
Example 3
One facility permits Jodi to market her services directly to residents on a fee-for-service basis to residents and staff. Marketing may include inclusion in facility newsletters, flyers and email.
